Our journey to Lares Trek 4 Days Hike will take us outside Cusco city, pass Ollantaytambo in the sacred valley. From this village we get to a small town called Patakancha, a Quechua community, where people live very much like their Inca ancestors.
Families on this community have done their homes using the same principles from an Inca epic past and also much of their clothing, work the land with foot ploughs and live off their llamas and alpacas supplementing their income working as porters.
We will pay them a visit to this whole community and from here you also meet part of trekking crew who will take care of equipment so you can start your Lares Trek 4 Days 3 Nights.
Once we are ready, we will leaving the village for what is coming next is worth to describe as a coming from a story book. The andean scenery of the high Andes is very different from flat terrain. their grass, Polylepis trees, LLamas, mountains and lakes all are unique. It will takes us some time to ascend ( around 1.5 hours ) until we get to a flat ground and beginning to glimpse the colours emerald and blue together on the ground surface and perceive the beautiful lake Ipsaycocha.
We have crossed our first high pass of Ipsaycocha pass at( 4,600m / 15,456ft) above the sea level and the rest of your hike will be downhill towards campsite (4,200m/13,780ft).

Nothing better than wake up surrounded by nature and to know also that someone is taking care off our early breakfast. As you notice our cook wants us to get with a full energy and get completed our day ahead for the Lares Trek 4 Days Hike.
As soon as we finished in charging ourselves with some food, we get prepared to descend the mountain for around 3 hours until we get to the community of Huancahuasi. We will see fields of potato, barley, quinoa and corn as they are very abundant here.
People of Huancahuasi village, built their own houses using stone and thatched roofs. The people of this village produce beautiful colourful textiles. There is a chance local people will show us on how to do the weaving techniques and be able to admire some of their high quality ponchos, chullos (wool hats) and other garments.
Afterward of interacting with the local community of Huancahuasi, we take you to the hot springs near the colonial village of Lares at 3400m, which are famous for the curatives powers. Around this area we will set up camp, have dinner and spend the night. So far we have managed to achieve the second day of our Lares Trek 4 Days Hike to Machu Picchu.
We leave early our campsite after breakfast and head on a short trail for couple of hours by the Totora canyon where at some point in the route our private transport will wait for us. Our transportation will take us further down the valley to the Inca town of Ollantaytambo. At this village we will rest and have lunch and look forward to complete the lares trek to machu picchu 4 days.
Later on In the afternoon, we will get a train to Aguas Calientes and enjoy a fantastic odyssey worthy of a film start that starts with you in the peruvian Andean highlands and slowly descends to lush tropical vegetation as we near Aguas Calientes town. The journey time by train is about 1½ hours. We will spend the night in a hotel in Aguas Calientes and to soak under the hot showers! We suggest you to have an early night to prepare for your Machu Picchu visit the following morning.
Today is a special day because we will heading to our final destination, Machu Picchu. Your last effort in getting very early and have some breakfast at 05:45 am before leaving this town. We will need to get the first bus to Machu Picchu which it will take us around 20 minutes to get to the top of the hill. Our aim is to get to the ancient citadele when the sunrise over the city. ( There is an option to go walking up the hill but it will take you at least 2 hours in doing so ).
The first impression of Macchu Picchu is its fantastic location which mix very well with the whole nature around it. Very far away at the back the Andean mountains and snow peaks. The whole view it will just take your breath away that is for sure.
Our guide will give you a 2 hour guided tour and after this you can explore the mysterious city by yourself.
If you have done the arrangements during your Lares Trek 4 Days Hike to Machu Picchu, you will know that in order to climb the mountain of Huayna Picchu (meaning Young Peak) at 2.720m/8,890ft above the sea level, you will need a permit. To climb the Huayna Picchu mountain which is the one facing the ancient city, It takes around 45 minutes to reach the top.
Once you finish exploring the city or part of it, your guide will meet you in Aguas Calientes (which can be reached by bus or on foot) to have lunch and to receive your train tickets back to Cusco. Time tables for leavin Aguas Calientes will be given on the meeting and trains usually leaves at 13:00 hours and the latest train usually leaves about 19 hours. The return to Cusco takes about four hours with a bus transfer in Ollantaytambo.
If desired, we can arrange for you to have an extra night in the town of Aguas Calientes. Please let us know whether you would like to stay an extra night when booking your tour.
