We will pick you up from your hotel. This adventure will start at 4:00 am taking the road to Chilca a village on the way to the Rainbow mountain. It will be a 3 ½ hours driving journey through desert landscapes, snow-capped peaks, and herds of alpacas.
Once we get there, we will get ready for our 4 hours hike: we’ll have an energizing breakfast. From Chilca (4,300m / 14,200 ft), a little town of the trail to the rainbow mountain, we will take our way up to the Mountains.
The trek is a bit demanding but our reward doing such a physical effort will be the superb views of the Andes landscape and wildlife. The Vicuñas, the Andean camels, from the same family as llamas, though are much smaller and they have the most expensive wool in the world.
Once we arrive at the top, immediately we will see the rainbow Mountain effect: stripes of colors the result of melted icebergs from a millennium ago. Of course, you will have your camera ready to take your best shots. It looks like these mountains have been painted due to its prominent red color also you will get perfect views of the valleys and the Ausangate Glacier Peak right in front of you. One of the tallest mountains in the Cusco region, Ausangate (6384 m.a.s.l) which is part of the Vilcanota Range.
After the amazement, Our guide will take some time to talk about how this colored stripe effect happened meanwhile we have some hot drinks. When we are ready, we will start our descent to the place where our chef has prepared a delicious lunch.
Finished our lunchtime, we will visit some of the local family’s houses who still speak Quechua, the ancient language. These communities keep a traditional way of living alive by honoring the mountain spirits and sun. They are paying tribute to nature to ensure that their crops and herds flourish.
Finally, we will return back to Chillca village to take our private car back to Cusco, arriving around 19:00 hrs approx. at your hotel.
