Sacred Valley

The most famous valley in Cusco is the Sacred Valley, and its denomination come after the Inca preference in having it royal estates houses along the valley.  The Inca was son of of the Sun or Inti thus, having him permanently in such Valley, it make it very special, a Sacred one.  The Sacred Valley is also very fertile and for the religious ceremonies, the use of a golden maize crop was very important.   This maize crop was cultivated in the Sacred Valley and fermented to make Chicha drink. The Inca and and his crown consumed at their many ceremonial feasts and religious festivals.

During the Sacred valley tour  we will be visiting Pisac and Ollantaytambo, which water terraces water fountains dated from Inca times, still working, the water is coming directly from the mountains rivers.  On your Sacred valley tour you will visit the local villages, meet local people making an extraordinary experience to your trip.

    Sacred Valley

    Our private transport will come to your hotel at 08:30 am and pick you up. We will be leaving Cusco city in direction to the Sacred Valley. At point will be passing Sacsayhuaman and descending over the mountains to the majestic Urubamba River.  Our first stop will be in Pisac village and visit its fantastic artisans market as well as the temple and architecture of Pisac dated from Inca times. 

    Our Sacred Valley tour will give us enough time to be around the Pisac artisans market.  At the artisans market there is wide variety of hand made crafts and textiles all of it done with natural organic resources and superb colours.

    Pisac village is well known for its Inca ruins in this valley and our private transport will take us to the top of the hills to get some panoramic view of this impressive and beautiful Inca ruins at the Sacred valley.

    The Sacred Valley tour, to the citadele of Pisac will be guided to see most temples, homes, altars, carvings, tunnels, caves and the famous Intihuatana, "The hitching post of the sun". We will have about 90 minutes to explore the ruins.

    In any case you want to stay in the Pisac market or around Pisac village instead of touring the Inca ruins, please let your guide known your wishes, so he will organize a time and place to pick you up when returning through the market.

    Once we have finished visiting Pisac, then will continue in direccion to Urubamba to our next stop at Ollantaytambo.   Before that we will stop on the route to have a lunch break (not included) and after continuing until we reach Ollantaytambo.  This place is famously known for its  magnificent structure which is worthy to explore. 

    Our Sacred Valley tour to the Ollantaytambo Inca site, get us to the temple of the sun, enormous blocks of rock perfectly carved and polished, stone water fountains, stairs and terraces.

    Local people of Ollantaytambo are keeping their traditions and do wearing beautifully typical dresses.  As most village in this valley, they are surrounded by their sacred mountains and in this case the valley of Patacancha and Willoq.

    From Ollantaytambo, we will travel to Chinchero and visit the famous church and archaeological site in Chincheros, enjoy the landscapes in place and later on return to Cusco at about 18:30-19:00 hours.
