Luxury Inca Trail – 4 Day
Hike The Luxury Inca Trail in comfort and style as you take this iconic Andean…

Chiclayo is an important city on the north coast of Peru, both as an economic and transport hub. In terms of tourism, it’s most famous for the fascinating archaeological sites in the surrounding area, built by the Moche, Sicán, and Lambayeque civilizations. The city itself is an interesting place, full of history and culture. So come with us on our Chiclayo sightseeing tour and discover all the highlights of the “City of Friendship.”
Our Chiclayo city tour begins when we pick you up from your hotel. We’ll first head to the city center and the main square of Chiclayo. One of the focal points on the square is the fountain, which has three streams of water that form the Peruvian flag. Your guide will point out the historic colonial and Republican-era buildings that sit around the square, including Chiclayo Cathedral (built from designs made by Gustave Eiffel), the Municipal Palace, the Hotel Royal, and the old Tropical Colonial Theatre and Union Club. We’ll also see the City Hall, a Republican-era building with large windows and wrought iron gates, whose construction is estimated to have cost more than 30 thousand pounds of gold (today it houses a small museum).
Next, we’ll go to the Paseo de Las Musas, a grand gateway of sorts formed by four five-meter-high caryatids (draped, sculpted female figures in the Greek tradition). The gateway is inscribed with another of the city’s nicknames: the “Heroic city of Chiclayo.” We’ll take a stroll around this pretty location, where a number of small squares display the nine muses of Greek Mythology.
Our final destination is Chiclayo’s wonderful Wizard’s Market. Shamanism still thrives in Peru, and the ancient practices include everything from medicinal cures to the healing of broken hearts and love potions. The market sells all the necessary ingredients for the creation of spells and potions. You can also see stuffed and dried animals such as snakes, birds, and sea horses, as well as all kinds of herbal medicines, fragrant herbs, tobacco, and ceremonial objects such as masks, drums, whistles, and more. It’s certainly an intriguing place to visit!
After spending time at this wonderful market, we’ll take you back to your hotel.
