Queswachaka and Caving

The Qeswachaka Bridge is the last remaining Inca rope bridge, which has been preserved thanks to the efforts of the local community. Built entirely of ropes made from grass, the bridge is renewed each year when locals gather together, forming their grass ropes into cables at the site, while others prepare mats for decking and other important elements for the annual reconstruction effort.
The bridge is a wonderful sight, stretching for 36 meters (118 feet) across a canyon, whose rushing waters pass some 18 meters (60 feet) below the bridge. Our full-day Qeswachaka tour will take you to this historic bridge, as well as to the nearby Qarañahui Cave, a massive cavern with spectacular stalactites and stalagmites. Book this tour to try caving in Peru. This is an excellent day tour from Cusco!
Our full-day adventure begins when we pick you up early in the morning at 6am from your hotel in Cusco. We’ll then drive for about four hours south of Cusco, passing by the beautiful Lake Pomacanchi at about 3,600 meters above sea level. Continuing further south on this spectacular route, we’ll eventually reach the Qeswachaka Bridge, the last Inca bridge on the Apurímac River. We’ll have time to take in the wonderful views of this impressive bridge and its hand-woven natural fiber construction and cross it to the other side.
After spending time at Qeswachaka we will head on to the Qarañahui Cave, one of the most impressive caves in the Cusco Region. It’s a vast cavern with impressive stalagmites and stalactites that offers a glimpse into a world sculpted by time itself. We’ll give you all the necessary equipment for your caving adventure, and then we’ll head inside to explore the cave for several hours.
Once we’ve explored the echoing depths of Qarañahui, we’ll board our private transport for the trip back to Cusco, where we’ll drop you off at your hotel in the afternoon.
