Machu Picchu Tour – Return train to Cusco
Your adventure is very early in the morning as we head off the city of Cusco to get on your 2 day machu picchu trek. At the train station, we will get prepared and as soon as we leave the train station, the open landscape, mountains and scenery will captivate you during your train journey that last few hours. Once we have finished our first route on train ride, the start of the Inca Trail will began for us. After walking for around 4 hours, we would reach an impressive Inca site called 'Forever Young'. This Inca site is know in native Quechua language as a 'Wiñay Wayna' at 2,680m / 8,792 ft above the sea level, and it is considered one of the most beautiful Inca sites claimed by foreign travellers.
Our Machu Picchu trek, will also allow us to get to 'Inti Punku' or 'Sun gate' at 2,730m / 8,792ft. From this fantastic location, you will get a panoramic glance of Machu Picchu at 2.400m or 7,873 ft and head towards this amazing ancient city.
But before visiting Machu Picchu, our first stop will be in Aguas Calientes town next to the legendary Inca royal city. At this town we will have some dinner, rest well so we can leave again at very early morning to the claimed ancient site by Unesco as a World Heritage Site. There will no much too wait to get done our 2 day machu picchu trek.
It’s another early day for you to look forward. Your breakfast will be ready before leaving the hotel but we need to get on time to catch our bus at least by 05:30 am.
You already saw Machu Picchu somewhere at home, a picture, magazine, film, but never imagine to be this close. On this 2 day trek you notice, the mountain facing Machu Picchu does a sensation of guarding the citadele. This mountain is called Huayna Picchu (2,720m/8,890ft) and you will spend around 45 minutes in climbing it. New governmental regulations, are asking travellers to seek permission before getting to the top of this mountain. You can ask us to get this permit for you in time.
Finished your 2 day trek, we will meet in Aguas Calientes and have a lunch there to share our experiences all together. You will have some time, in walking around picturesque streets of Aguas Calientes and see something of your interest.
Our return to Cusco will be by train first to Ollantaytambo and changing for a private transport to finish our journey in Cusco.
You can stay an extra night in Aguas Calientes and by getting this choice you are extending your visit to Machu Picchu, the following day. Some other travellers want to try the local hot spring waters from this town. Probably you have already have done some research of the different options and treks available to get to Machu Picchu. We have to remind you is no longer possible to stay a night on the Inca Trail for the 2 day, 1 night trek. On the 2 Day Trek, you need to pass the night always in Aguas Calientes.
Regarding Huayna Picchu, to obtain the permits, need to be booked well in advance and are two time sessions only: 7 - 8am or 10 – 11am. Please note: if you get the permits for the 7am start you will no be able to get the Machu Picchu guided tour.
